On 9th September 2025, the Institute of Fuel Cell from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) conducted a comprehensive benchmarking visit to the University of Malaya Power Energy Dedicated Advanced Centre (UMPEDAC) today.
The three-hour programme, held at Wisma R&D UM, brought together leading researchers from both institutions to explore best practices in centre management and academic excellence. The morning session commenced with welcome remarks from representatives of both institutions, setting the tone for collaborative engagement. UMPEDAC presented its programme structure, followed by an interactive Q&A session that fostered direct dialogue between the visiting delegation and host institution.
The core of the visit featured a dedicated benchmarking session, focusing on Higher Institution Centre of Excellence (HICoE) status and management strategies. This session provided valuable insights into operational frameworks and excellence standards that have positioned UMPEDAC as a HICoE. The programme concluded with a laboratory tour of HICoE UMPEDAC facilities, offering UKM delegates firsthand exposure to cutting-edge research infrastructure and ongoing projects.
